Best Christmas Wishes Het Anker 750ml, 8% - Belgium

Last night we celebrated Christmas with three different X-mas beers. I'll start off with Best Christmas Wisher from Het Anker. Which seems to not be available everywhere.

Dark cherry color topped with a bronze head, which settles instantly leaving some lacing behind.

Warm, fruity smell, cherry aroma. A tad of alcohol.

A taste which is way too sweet for my liking. Apricots, raisins, sugar, various dried fruits, small hints of cherries. The after taste is also very sweet, although there was some sourness in it.

I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate this on a cold Christmas evening, but I'm rather pass.

Gouden Carolus Tripel 750ml, 9% - Belgium

And now to the last bottle from Gouden Carolus.

Poured nicely with a two finger head, whipped cream white head. This is just incredible, a feast to my eyes. Couldn't stop staring at this head, beautiful color!

Sweet smell, flower bouquet, very gentle.

Refreshing taste, sweet with some honey, spicy after taste.

I really enjoyed this beer, great triple! For sure the best out of those three that I just reviewed. Definitely something I will buy in the future.

There are two more bottles from GC that I have on order with Systembolaget, hopefully they will be here next week or so.

Stay tuned!

Gouden Carolus Classic 750ml, 8.5% - Belgium

Now it's time for the second bottle from the Gouden Carolus line up.

Dark brown, one finger head, settled very quick. (Maybe too quick).

Smells like dried fruits, specially plums. After half of the glass was finished, I started to sense some alcohol in the aroma.

Taste: Bitter sweet taste, prunes (It's like I was chewing on them while drinking the beer), spices.

This beer was too fruity and way too sweet for my taste. I didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted. Maybe this is something for a cold, dark winter night?

Gouden Carolus Ambrio 750ml, 8% - Belgium

Yesterday I decided to try all three Gouden Carolus back to back. There are a few more of them out there, but this is all I could find in that Danish grocery store.

Poured fast with a strong, thick two finger head. Dark vanilla color. Settled down fine with lacing.

Smell: Refreshingly fruity smell, very light, no sense of alcohol at all.

Taste: Sweet taste, fruity with a bitter after taste. Thing is it varied a lot from the first to the last sip.

Over all quite a good beer, easy to drink.
